The fascination of the world

"Be sober; watch; for the devil, your adversary, walks around, roaring like a lion, seeking whom he can swallow." (1 Peter 5:8)

It is necessary to watch so as not to fall into temptation. The Word warns that sin knocks on the door. Whoever lives in the presence of God will never give in to the evil one, because if he seeks Heaven's direction for the proposals presented, he will receive understanding in order to win. God's children are guided by the Holy Spirit, but those led by the enemy make him their father.

“And there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram' cattle and the herdsmen of Lot' cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land. And Abram said to Lot: Let there be no strife, I pray you, between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we be brothers. Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself, I pray you, from me: if you will take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if you depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as you come to Zoar. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.” (Genesis 13:7-11)

When something is presented to you, pray not to decide for something contrary to the divine will and, consequently, to your happiness. Temptations fascinate; preoccupation with the things necessary for existence is deceiving, and the desire to enjoy what God has not given makes the Word fruitless. Even seeing how big you have become can be Hell's trap. So watch and pray!

If you are unsure of the direction to take, take the time to get it. This is better than giving your word and then seeing that the choice was bad. Whoever is the guarantor of someone must release that commitment, in order not to pay for what you didn’t use. After consulting the Lord, wait for His answer. Impatience does not mean "yes".

Lot looked up and saw what he shouldn't have, although that was true. If he had asked Heaven for guidance, the story would have been different. Twice, he would not lose everything (Genesis 14:12 and 19:17). If he had seen with his spiritual eyes, he would have made another decision. Certainly, he approved of the confusion that his shepherds made with those of Abram. Now, when a business starts badly, it ends badly, because it is not of God.

Later, when he was rescued by Abram, he should have evaluated his attitude and asked that his uncle let him return to his life; however, pride did not allow Lot to act correctly. Therefore, such an episode passed as normal. Assess why so many negative situations are happening in your life, because the curse without a cause is not fulfilled (Proverbs 26:2), and try to get it right. Whoever walks in darkness has a hesitant walk, but in the light, there is no stumbling block.

“As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.” (Proverbs 26:2)

When the spirit of error dominates the human being, he does not recognize his mistakes or repair himself, even though he knows that he is on the wrong path, because his master, the devil, hates happiness. Do not continue to walk in darkness, seek to walk in the light; or, prepare yourself for the bad things that will happen in your life. Please the Lord, for He will certainly fulfill your heart's desires.

"Trust in the Lord and do good; you will dwell in the land, and you will truly be fed. Delight in the Lord also, and he will grant you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust him, and he will do it." (Psalm 37:3-5)

It is not ugly to confess your sins, but to remain in them is. Those who fall have the right to start over. The Father will satisfy you as long as you want to change. Lot's story would have been different if he had walked in the light. However, he chose what he saw, leaving to do his own will and departing from his uncle.
